We are thrilled to congratulate our CanDoIt Doctoral Candidate, Peggy Xinyu Pei, for winning Best Oral Presentation at the NIBS 2025 Conference, held from October 20–22 at Schloss Plön, Germany.
Her presentation, “Feasibility Study of Non-Contact Magnetic Particle Spectroscopy for Lab-On-Chip Sensing”, was selected from among contributions by over 70 researchers from the Baltic Sea region, highlighting her outstanding work in nanoscience and innovation.
This research was carried out at her host institute, Kiel University, and during her secondment at Centrale Lille Institute, under the guidance of supervisors Martina Gerken, Fabio Aldo Kraft, Yannick Dusch, and Abdelkrim Talbi.
We are incredibly proud of Peggy and her inspiring contribution to advancing lab-on-chip sensing! 🌟
We are excited to share that our Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network (CanDoIt–MSCA) researchers, Dr. Tahereh Azargoshasb and Paria Kamkar, have published a new study in RSC Advances.
Their work demonstrates the promising potential of Heusler-based and iron-free double-barrier magnetic tunnel junctions (DB-MTJs) as highly sensitive, label-free magnetic biosensors.
We would also like to acknowledge the valuable contribution of their supervisor Prof. Hadi Heidari.

In January 2025, the first CanDoIt Project Workshop and Annual Network Meeting took place, bringing together leading experts, researchers, and industry leaders from across Europe to discuss the latest advancements in breast cancer diagnostics and treatment monitoring.
The event featured tutorial sessions from experts, diving deep into topics such as breast cancer research, extracellular vesicles, and biosensor technologies. The workshop also focused on cutting-edge innovations with invited keynote speakers from Institut Curie (Paris), Fluigent (Paris), and the University of Oviedo.
The Annual Network Meeting, held alongside the workshop, provided a platform for project beneficiaries, associated partners, and doctoral candidates to collaborate and share ideas. Doctoral candidates (DCs) had the opportunity to introduce themselves and present posters about their ongoing research, sparking engaging discussions and collaborations.

Throughout the event, the atmosphere remained warm and collaborative, with participants sharing ideas and building strong networks. The meeting ended on a magical note, with snowfall on the last day of the workshop. The CanDoIt Workshop and Annual Network Meeting in January 2025 marked a promising beginning for the project, uniting brilliant minds in the pursuit of advancing breast cancer care through innovative research and technology.
